Market-Ready Date Estimator

Estimate the ship window for your group from current weight, target, and expected ADG.

Estimate when a group of cattle will hit your target sale weight, given current weight and your expected average daily gain. The calculator returns three dates — early, mid, and late ship windows — based on ADG variability you'd typically see across a group. Useful for planning truck schedules, sale barn dates, and feed contract timing.

Frequently asked

What ADG should I use?

Whatever you're seeing on the actual group. If you don't have a recent weigh, look at last year's closeout for cattle of the same type and weight. Typical backgrounder ADG runs 1.8 to 2.8 lb per day depending on ration and weather.

Why three dates?

Cattle within a group don't all gain at the same rate. The early/mid/late window accounts for ADG variability of roughly ±15% — a realistic spread for most operations.

Does it account for weather or seasonal effects?

No. The estimate uses a constant ADG. Mud, heat, and cold can knock 20-30% off ADG; if you're in a stretch like that, drop your ADG input accordingly.

Can I model multiple groups at once?

Not on this free version — use one group at a time. The full Cattle Revolution app projects ship dates for every active group based on your live weights and bunk calls.
